People magazine reported that a judge presiding over the custody issue between Spears and Kevin Federline, found that the singer was a regular alcohol and drug user. She must now undergo tests to evaluate her intake of substances.
The judge also ordered Spears to meet a parenting counsellor at least twice per week to observe her interactions with her children.
The couple had many other recommendations that were ordered by the court including: doing a programme to resolve their conflicts, never using physical punishment with the children, and not making any derogatory comments about the other parent or other family members in front of the children.
The next hearing will be on November 26.
