People magazine reported that after five years of marriage and five children together, O’Neal filed for divorce from his wife Shaunie Nelson in Miami last Tuesday.
On the declaration completed by O’Neal’s lawyer the document read, "The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken."
The document also stated that Nelson was, "secretive about her assets … particularly with respect to certain properties owned or titled in either [her] name alone or in other entities."
The court asked Nelson to list a detailed description of all the assets accumulated during the marriage.
O’Neal and Nelson were married in December 2002 in a secret ceremony at a hotel in Beverly Hills.
