FemaleFirst reported that the prisoners were disappointed to learn that Doherty had cancelled the show that was supposed to be done at the prison of Pentonville. They were hoping that the singer of the group Baby Shambles could help them overcome their drug addictions.
In fact, it was the British prison that decided Doherty would be transmitting the wrong message to the prisoners. The singer has a history of substance abuse, and has had problems with the law for drug possession. Despite this, the prisoners thought it would be helpful to have a visit from Doherty.
One inmate told the Independent, "They should have let him come because he knows he has the same problems as us. The only difference is he can afford the drugs."
