The singer explains that she found internal peace while working on the disc, after a difficult year of her life.
According to FemaleFirst, Keys said, "I needed this music more than it needed me. This year’s been a rollercoaster but, as down as I’ve been, I’ve learned so much. I found beauty during the dark times."
Keys, 27, believes that she may never find an honest relationship, because she feels the need to hide her emotions. She explained, "Even when you find a person you trust I don’t think you can be completely honest, ever. There are still pieces of you that you don’t give away. I believe you always need that place where it’s just you, your thoughts, and no one else’s judgement of anything."
The latest disc from Alicia Keys, As I Am, will be released in November.
