The two were playing golf in California when the actress spotted the snake and smashed it with her golf club.
A source told the National Enquirer, "Michael was in mid-swing when he heard Catherine scream ‘Don’t move!’.He turned in horror to see her running straight at him brandishing her gold club and chanting ‘Don’t move! Don’t move!’ He did as he was told and stayed rooted to the spot, but tried to swivel his head to see what she’d spotted. Catherine swung at a three-foot rattle snake coiled up by Michael’s feet and sent it flying through the air."
