Lynne Spears gave her exclusive story to Us Weekly magazine, saying, "It’s sad that the whole world had to watch her make mistakes that all of us have made at one time or another."
Earlier this year, Britney Spears seemed to have gone through a humiliating downward spiral. She was filmed shaving her head, partying frequently, and entered a detoxification clinic.
Spears also made changes to the people that she had around her. A source said, "She decided that she had to cut out everyone who was using her, and that included her parents."
Another source added, "Lynne was like Britney’s best friend, so when Britney started partying and her mom tried to control her, she got mad."
Spears and her mother reconciled on June 10, talking for the first time in months. Lynne Spears, who is the mother of three, added, "Britney Jean Spears is the sweetest and the most sensitive and loving of all my children. She’s just figuring things out."
