The film is an adaption of the novel "Body Snatchers", which has been brought to the silver screen twice before in 1956 and 1978. The inhabitants of a small American town become the victims of a strange phenomenon in which friends and relatives begin to feel unhuman. Two psychiatrists discover that extra-terrestrials are responsible for the epidemic.
The film is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Das Experiment) and produced by Joel Silver (The Matrix trilogy), and also stars Jeremy Northam and Malin Akerman.
