Jack Johnson In the Recording Studio

Singer Jack Johnson is in the studio recording his fifth CD.

The folk-pop singer plans to release his next disc in the beginning of 2008.

The filmmaker-turned-singer has been working with music producer JP Plunier for the project.  Plunier has been a long-time collaborater with Johnson and worked with him on his first disc in 2001, Brushfire Fairytales.

Jackson told Billboard magazine, "We’ve been good friends ever since."

The singer added that his disc is 75% complete, "I think if it’s all finished at this point, it’s a little stale in the studio. It’s kind of fun to leave space to go in a certain direction with the lyrics, I think."
