Beeban Kidron (Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason) will direct the project, which begins filming next fall.
Lee Hall wrote the screenplay from the memoir "Hippie Hippie Shake: The Dreams, the Trips, the Trials, the Love-in, the Screw Ups: The Sixties", by Richard Neville.
The film will use an obscenity trial from the Australian magazine Oz as a metaphore for the story which follows the swinging 1960s in London.
