According to the New York Post, Basinger, 53, has hired a team of bodyguards to protect her eleven year-old daughter, Ireland. The actress is concerned about her ex-husband, actor Alec Baldwin, 49.
Basinger, who starred in the film 8 Mile, among others, is taking action after Baldwin called their daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig".
Since the incident, Baldwin has made both public and private apologies for his actions. Visitation rights were also temporarily suspended for Baldwin until a hearing takes place on May 4.
A representative for Baldwin said, "Alec truly cares about the best interests of his daughter."
