According to MTV, the band has been working in Glasgow finishing the writing process for their next release. Their last disc, You Could Have It So Much Better, was released in 2005.
The new songs should be recorded over the course of the summer. There is no date set for the band to enter the recording studio.
Alex Kapranos, the band’s leader, explained, "It’s a wee bit different from [the last album] but still very danceable, that’s the main thing. It’s always pop. Franz Ferdinand has always been pop."
