According to Variety, Lee, 36, has joined the cast of the Fox 2000 and Fox Animation project. The feature film will be a combination of live action and animation.
The movie will be based on the popular animated television series of the 1950s of the same name. The Chipmunks went on to record several albums, which featured their unique sound.
Filming for the project is expected to begin on March 28, and Alvin and the Chipmunks will be in theatres on December 14, 2007.
