According to inside sources, Hugh Hefner, 80, and Rosie O’Donnell, 45, are both saddened by the tragedy.
Yesterday, the former Playmate was found in her hotel room in Florida. The 39 year-old woman had choked and suffocated in her own vomit. When Smith was discovered, she was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital, but was pronounced dead.
Hefner, the owner of Playboy magazine, knew Smith well. He said, "I am very saddened to learn about Anna Nicole’s passing. She was a dear friend who meant a great deal to the Playboy family and me personally."
O’Donnell is also in shock over the death, saying, "It’s a tragedy. Her son died. She has this little baby. There’s obviously some kind of medication or substance involved."
