According to Variety magazine, Oliphant, who stars in the television shows Deadwood and The Girl Next Door, has agreed to replace Vin Diesel in the project. Hitman is an adaptation of the video game Eidos.
Filmmaker Xavier Gens will direct the film, which is being produced by Luc Besson’s production company Europa Corp., and Warner Bros.
The story follows a genetically mastered assasin called Agent 47 (played by Oliphant). Filming is set to begin in Europe in March.
Diesel backed out of the project to participate in the feature film Babylon A.D.
