The Rock joins Terrence Stamp, Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in the Warner Bros. project. Filming, under the direction of Peter Segal, is set to begin in the coming weeks and will take place in Los Angeles, Washington and Moscow.
The comedy is based on the popular television series from the 1960s. Maxwell Smart is a secret agent who takes on his nemesis KAOS with in hilarious ways.
In the film adaptation, The Rock will play the new character Agent 23. Stamp will play an evil mastermind.
