Nelly Furtado to Record Spanish Album

Pop singer Nelly Furtado, who recently gained a comeback success with "Maneater", is planning to release an album in Spanish.

"I’m in the midst of recording a Latin album," Furtado revealed when she stopped by the MTV offices Wednesday. "It’s like, ‘Wow, I’m writing a song in Spanish.’ It’s really bizarre, but really great."

Furtado, who is grew up speaking Portugese, didn’t learn Spanish until she was 14.  Although she has recorded Spanish songs in the past ("Te Busque" from her album Loose), this will be the singer’s first attempt at writing a complete album in Spanish.

"I feel like a little kid again, because it’s a whole new language," she said. "And I can’t translate poetically yet. But Latin languages come easy to me. When I sing in them, it feels natural. It feels organic. I love rapping in Spanish, I love singing in Spanish. It just feels so good."

Furtado is working on her new album until she begins her tour of the United Kingdom on February 16.  She will then travel to Europe, Canada and a few shows in the United States.  The pop singer also may tour Latin America and Asia with singer Justin Timberlake, although it has not been confirmed.
