According to various American sources, Richie was stopped by police for driving while intoxicated. The California Highway Patrol has confirmed the news.
Officers arrested the young woman after receiving two calls to 911 that reported a car was driving the wrong way on the highway. A police spokesperson explained, "When officers approached, the vehicle was taken off the highway, and Richie was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs."
The star of the television series The Simple Life may need to pay a $1400 fine. Agent John Balian reported, "She was booked without incident and was cooperative."
In 2003, the starlet was arrested for heroin possession. Richie then underwent treatment for a drug dependency.
