United Artists, which is owned by MGM, is a fledgling studio which hopes to be ressurected by the most popular actor in Hollywood.
Founded in 1919 by Charlie Chaplin, among others. United Artists will be led by Cruise now that his 14 year relationship with Paramount ended in August. The plan is for Wagner to become the studio president, and Cruise will produce and star in the studio’s projects. The two plan to produce four films each year.
For several years, United Artists brought small-budget films to the big screen. Despite all, the studio has managed to produce success films such as Bowling for Columbine from Michael Moore, Hotel Rwanda and No Man’s Land.
