The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who dominated the nominations (4), left only with one prize, the Album of the Year for Stadium Arcadium.

Singer Christina Aguilera was named Singer of the Year, while Madonna was left out of the winners’ circle, despite being nominated in three categories.

The Song of the Year was given to Gnarls Barkley for the single Crazy.

British pop veterans Depeche Mode were also named the Group of the Year.

The ceremony took place in the Danish capital of Coppenhagen, with 8,000 enthusiastic fans.  The show was televised in 17 different countries.
