According to the Associated Press, the star may be planning to adopt a child. The information was revealed by Andrina Mchiela, the secretary to the Minister of Social Security. Mchiela explained that Madonna will be adopting a child in addition to launching six projects to help the orphans during her visit.
The star and her team of ten people arrived by private plane in the region’s capital, Lilongwe.
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. Fourteen percent of the 12 million people living in the area are affected by AIDS, one million of them are children who are orphaned.
Madonna and her husband, filmmaker Guy Ritchie, are already the parents of a son, Rocco, 5. Madonna also has a 9 year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
