According to Variety magazine, Haggis, who directed the film Crash, is hoping to direct Theron and Tommy Lee Jones in The Garden of Elah. Filming is set to begin later this year.
In the Warner Independent Pictures film, Theron, 31, will play a local police detective who helps Jones’ character to solve the disappearance of his son. Jones plays a former army officer who is searching for his son, who disappears after being posted in the line of fire in Iraq.
The film is based on an article which appeared in Playboy magazine by Mark Boal, entitled "Death and Dishonor".
