Latest reports show that the marriage ceremony and reception of Aguilera and Jordan Bratman was a two million dollar affair. Aguilera, who is fiercely independant, always put her music career first, and was not expecting to be married so soon. She said, "I was never one of those girls who couldn’t wait to be married, who couldn’t wait for the white dress. That was so not me. I always felt my career was first. Nothing was going to distract me. That’s another reason I just never thought I’d be married at 25."
The wedding took place in Napa Valley, California, in a newly constructed Renaissance-style temple with hand-painted ceilings. Aguilera wanted the look and feel of a winter wedding, so the tables were adorned with flowers dipped in silver glitter.
The singer also hired a 17 piece orchestra to accompany her while she serenaded her husband with "At Last", a song by her idol, Etta James.
