According to the website Ananova, the actor revealed that he made terrible comments during his arrest and disgraced his family.
Gibson, 50, was arrested Friday while driving in Malibu, California. He was traveling at 80 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone, and failed a breathaliser test for alcohol. He said, "I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse."
Following the arrest, Gibson was charged with drunk driving and was released after paying a $5,000 bond.
