Chris Cornell and James Bond

Chris Cornell, the singer of rock group Audioslave, will interpret the theme song to the next James Bond movie, Casino Royale.

The former Soundgarden lead singer has himself announced the news to Finnish newspaper Iltasanomat.

The singer declared: “I haven’t seen the new Bond fully, because it is still being edited, but I have seen several clips of it. Absolutely amazing movie. Very different than earlier Bonds."

The 21st James Bond movie, Casino Royale, is being produced by Martin Campbell, starring Daniel Craig in his first role as 007. The movie will be in theaters next November.

Before Cornell, the James Bond theme songs have been interpreted by, among others, A-ha, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Garbage and Madona.
