The Who Announces a World Tour

The legendary British rock group The Who has announced that they will be touring for the first time in 20 years.

On September 12, 2006, The Who will begin their tour in Philadelphia.  In addition to the United States, the band will travel to Canada, South America, Asia and Eastern Europe.

The band’s original members, guitarist Pete Townsend and singer Roger Daltry will be joined by drummer Zak Starkey, the son of Ringo Starr, and Townsend’s brother, Simon, on the guitar.

The tour is coinciding with the release of the group’s first studio disc since 1982.  Townsend said of the tour, "Roger and I are both fit and well, ready to rock."

The first cities and dates for The Who’s concert tour are as follows:

Sept. 12 – Philadelphia

Sept. 13 – Wantagh, New York

Sept. 15 – Boston

Sept. 16 – Ottowa, Canada

Sept. 18 – New York

Sept. 21 – Holmdel, New Jersey

Sept. 25 – Chicago

Sept. 30 – London

Oct. 3 – Winnipeg, Canada

Oct. 5 – Calgary, Canada

Oct. 6 – Edmonton, Canada

Oct. 8 – Vancouver, Canada

Dec. 4 – Toronto, Canada
