Schwarzenegger Leads Polls

Former actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is leading the political polls in California, where he is expected to be voted as the state’s governor for another term.

The star of the film Terminator began his political career in 2003, being named the governor of California.  The 58 year-old actor has often been termed the "Governator".  Now, after three years in office, Schwarzenegger’s popularity is undeniable, and he is expected to beat his principal rival, Phil Angelides, in this fall’s vote.

Schwarzenegger is actually being supported by 44% of the California voters, as opposed to the 37% that Angelides has in his corner.  Earlier this year, that margin was as narrow as 3%, although Schwarzenegger’s decision to send National Guardsmen to the Mexican border to keep out illegal immigrants has certainly raised the public’s opinion.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the 38th governor of California.  His term will end on January 8, 2007.  Last September, he announced that he would run for a second term.
