According to Contactmusic, the star would like to find a companion who is also Jewish. Portman, who starred in the films Leon and Vendetta, among others, was born in Israel, although her family moved to the United States when she was three years old.
Portman adds that she feels more interested in her religion when she visits her birth country. The 25 year-old actress said, "A priority for me is definitely that I’d like to raise my kids Jewish, but the ultimate thing is to have someone who is a good person and who is a partner… I get much more Jewish in Israel."
Portman’s father would also like to see a Jewish man come into her life, and has often joked with the men that she has dated who are not Jewish. "He always makes this stupid joke with my new boyfriend, who is not Jewish. ‘It’s just a simple operation.’", added the actress.
