Basinger (L.A. Confidential, Batman, 8 Mile) filed papers in court to block her ex-husband from publishing a book about their divorce. Alec Baldwin (Beetle Juice, The Aviator, The Hunt for Red October) plans to write a book entitled A Promise to Ourselves, which will detail the couple’s separation and divorce. Baldwin also plans to use his book to help educate the public on the legal system, which in his view, favors mothers in custody issues.
Basinger and Baldwin split in 2000 after seven years of marriage. Since that time, the two have struggled with endless custody battles over their daughter, Ireland.
