Columbia Gives Green Light to Next Dan Brown Film

Columbia Studios, encouraged by the success of the film The Da Vinci Code, will be adapting another Dan Brown book, entitled Angels and Demons, into film.

The Da Vinci Code is already a box-office hit, earning $224 million in one weekend.  The film’s producers are now hoping to have the same success with the Angels and Demons sequel project.

The book, written before The Da Vinci Code, also follows the main character, Robert Langdon, who was played by Tom Hanks in the film.  It is yet unknown if Hanks and the other actors will star in the sequel.  Additionally, a spokesperson for Columbia stated that Ron Howard, who directed The Da Vinci Code, has not yet agreed to lead the new movie.

Columbia Pictures has also obtained the film rights to another Dan Brown novel, entitled Digital Fortress and Deception Point.
