Naomi Watts Wants to Fight AIDS

Like Angelina Jolie, actress Naomi Watts will be working in collaboration with the United Nations.

According to People magazine, the King Kong star has agreed to become a special envoy to help bring awareness to the AIDS problem.

In an official statement, Watts, 37, wrote, "I only hope that, as a UNAIDS Special Representative, I can do my small part to raise AIDS awareness and to encourage greater international support for the vital work being done on the ground."

There is no doubt that Watts has seen for herself the devastation left by AIDS.  She recently went on a mission to Zambia, where she encountered several victims, as well as orphans in the hospitals and schools.

There are millions of Africans who are infected by the disease.  Many people are dying of AIDS because of a lack of appropriate care.
