Grammy Awards Pay a Tribute to New Orleans

The Grammy Awards ceremony will pay a tribute to victims of Hurricane Katrina which hit New Orleans.

Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello will have the presence of Louisiana residents, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John and Irma Thomas to pay a tribute to the victims of last fall’s natural disaster.  Other artists will include Bonnie Raitt, U2 guitarist, the Edge and Sam Moore.

Grammy President Sam Portnow explained that this 48th annual Grammys "wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t take this unique opportunity to pay homage to a region with such rich musical history and culture."

The organizers also announced the participation of Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple, and Sting. 

The Grammy Awards will be presented on Wednesday, live from Los Angeles.  The artists with the most nominations are Mariah Carey, John Legend and Kenye West.
