Bono Launches a New Fight Against Aids

Lead singer for the Irish group U2, Bono, announced today at a world economics conference in Switzerland, that he has a new initiative to fight AIDS.

The initiative is called the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, and it will sell products under the name Red.

American Express, Converse, Gap and Giorgio Armani have all joined Bono in the initiative and will be selling products from the Red line.  A portion of the proceeds will be spent on fighting AIDS and malaria in Africa.  American Express is creating an exclusive Red credit card, and hopes to distribute the cards to four million clients in the next three years.

Converse will be creating a line of shoes made from African materials.  The Gap will sell t-shirts made from African material, and Armani will design Red sunglasses.
