Sullivan was asked to propose an idea for the fouth film of the series, and the studio liked his idea.
Pre-production for Shrek 3 is nearly beginning. The film should be in theatres May 18, 2007. Shrek 3 was written by Peter Seaman and Jeffrey Price (the two writers behind How the Grinch Stole Christmas). Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas will again provides the voices for the famous characters.
The Shrek franchise has already grossed more than $1.6 million in DVD sales.
