Denzel to Tell Sammy Davis Jr. Story

The life of legendary crooner Sammy Davis Jr. will soon find its way to the big screen, announced Oscar winner Denzel Washington.

Washington has read the book "In Black and White:  The Life of Sammy Davis Jr.", which will be in stores this April.

This year would be the 80th birthday of the deceased star, who passed away in 1990 after a battle with cancer.

Washington not only claims the book "changed my life" with its revelations of "all the sacrifices that had to be made (for Davis) to live and to endure such a life".  He adds that has purchased the rights for the film version of the book, with director Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind).

He writes, "It will make (a) great, inspiring movie."
