Jamie Foxx Recognized

Jamie Foxx and Hilary Swank were recognized Saturday evening at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, as best actor and best actress for their performance respectively in Ray and Million Dollar Baby.

The SAG (Screen Actors Guild) honours memorable performances for motion picture and primetime television in 13 different categories.  This year, the 11th annual ceremony was held at the Shrine Exposition Centre in Los Angeles.

Jamie Foxx was named best actor for his realistic portrait of R&B singer Ray Charles in Ray.  Hilary Swank was awarded for her performance as a boxer whose life takes a tragic turn in Million Dollar Baby.

Cate Blanchett won the award for best supporting actress for her role as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator.  Morgan Freeman won best supporting actor in Million Dollar Baby.

The award for motion picture cast performance went this year to the film Sideways, directed by Alexander Payne.

Many awards were also given to primetime television.  CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Desperate Housewives were among the recipients.

Jamie Foxx and Hilary Swank are in the lead for best actor and best actress for the 77th annual Oscar Awards on February 27.
