The Federal Court of Appeals reversed a verdict that granted 88.5 million dollars in inheritance to Smith, from her late husband, petroleum tycoon and billionaire, J. Howard Marshall.
In 2002, after a huge legal battle between Smith and Marshall’s son, E. Pierce Marshall, a California judge had established that Smith’s 90 year old husband was definitely in love with the 26 year old star. She was therefore, within her rights to receive a part of the inheritance of his fortune when he died in 1995.
