Last February, hockey fans received the good news that the 2025 All-Star Game will be replaced by a Four Nations Tournament.
This tournament, which will pit Finland, Sweden, Canada and the United States against each other, will bring together the best players from each nation.
Originally, the competition was to be held in Montreal and Boston, but unlike the American city, this is less certain for the Quebec metropolis. Yesterday on BPM Sports, Renaud Lavoie pointed out that confirmation of Montreal’s bid was moving backwards.
And two days ago, my colleague Charles-Alexis Brisebois wrote that Toronto could even replace Montreal.
Today, the city reacted to all this. TVA Sports wrote about it.

In an e-mail statement, it is said that Montreal is the city of sports par excellence. In that context, “she is excited by the prospect of Montreal being selected as one of two host cities for [the] National Hockey League’s Four Nations Confrontation.”
Apparently, Montreal has done all the legwork, and is only waiting for the NHL to confirm.
The NHL should be back with a confirmation soon. – Montreal

According to Renaud Lavoie, who was more reassuring this morning in this matter, Canadiens representatives remain confident of keeping the tournament in the metropolis.
The TVA Sports journalist indicated that it wasn’t the end of the world that the matter hadn’t yet been settled, and that “if we’re still discussing it, it’s because the National League knows very well that the project will work [and create a buzz] in Montreal”.
The latest news is therefore very encouraging, and there’s no doubt that it would be ideal to see international games at the Bell Centre and not at Scotiabank Arena.
