David Pagnotta links Arthur Kaliyev’s name to that of habs

Arthur Kaliyev is an interesting player.

He hasn’t yet reached his full potential after three full seasons in the NHL, and he seems to need a change of scenery.

He finished last season with a meagre 15 points (51 games), and at 22 years of age, he still has time to break through.

Kaliyev was selected with the 33rd overall pick in 2019 and was getting a lot of attention in junior (with the Hamilton Bulldogs) because he was scoring a lot of goals.

We’re talking about a natural goalscorer with an excellent wrist shot. And it’s also relevant to note that many expected him to be able to adapt quickly to the NHL game because he had such a great first season in the AHL (31 points in 40 games).

I’m talking about him today because in a recent article, David Pagnotta linked his name to that of the Canadiens.

And in a way, it’s not crazy because the player has qualities that could interest Montreal management.

Arthur Kaliyev isn’t small at 6’2′ and 210 pounds.

He uses his body to create space in the offensive zone, and he can also be useful in forechecking because he still has a good skating stroke.

David Pagnotta didn’t say that Kent Hughes will do everything in his power to get him out of Los Angeles, but the idea remains intriguing because the player could fit the Habs’ needs as they look to add size and offensive talent to their lineup.

He’s a logical target in the current circumstances.

And the potential is there, because he had two great seasons at the age of 20 and 21.

What’s impressive is that he’s capable of scoring goals in every possible way:

Overtime

– Good point.

– Good luck for the future.

– Looks good on him.

– With good reason.
