The time Kent Hughes helped a sick woman (brain cancer) with the help of Vincent Lecavalier

Vincent Lecavalier and Kent Hughes have known each other for a long time.

The Canadiens’ current GM was Lecavalier’s agent when the player was playing in the NHL, and they still have a great relationship.

Today, the two men even have the opportunity to work together within the Montreal Canadiens organization.

Tony Marinaro took advantage of Kent Hughes’ visit to his microphone this morning to share a story involving the two main players.

The new BPM Sports host recounts how, several years ago, a listener sent him a message to say that his wife was very ill and that she was very fond of Vincent Lecavalier, who was her favorite player.

Marinaro was just starting out in the media world, but he managed to find Kent Hughes’ number.

He called him at the time to ask Hughes if his client could visit the listener’s wife on her birthday because she had brain cancer and because his time was going to be “limited”.

Kent Hughes chose to make the arrangements, but Lecavalier was unable to visit the listener’s wife because he had to report to the Lightning’s training camp in Tampa Bay.

In the end… Marinaro recounts that the listener received a call from Yvon Lecavalier (Vincent’s father) and that he went to visit them to bring a Vincent Lecavalier jersey.

The former Lightning player, at that moment, managed to speak to the woman in question on the phone to wish her a happy birthday, and she was very moved even though she couldn’t speak.

He said, ‘Tony, I want you to know that my wife passed away a few days later. But I know she died happy. She was really happy about that conversation. – Tony Marinaro

All this was made possible because of Kent Hughes, and that’s why Tony Marinaro wanted to tell the story.

Obviously, the story is beautiful.

No one twisted Kent Hughes’ arm to get him to do something like this, and it shows that the Canadiens’ GM has his heart in the right place.

It’s heartwarming, at least.
