Miss Sushi à la maison, or Geneviève Everell as she is known, has been sharing her passion for food with you for several years now. After winning the hearts of her subscribers with her delicious recipes, the accomplished entrepreneur shared some sad news almost a year ago: she had breast cancer.

As the months went by, Geneviève opened up to her subscribers at every stage of her journey. With transparency, vulnerability and kindness, she gave an account of her battle. However, in her most recent Dear Diary shared in a story on Instagram, it’s wonderful news that she announces: she no longer has cancer!

After undergoing a partial mastectomy, doctors analyzed her cells and officially told her there was no trace of cancer left.

“My operation was on August 5, but I received the pathology in mid-August, even before, like on August 12. So I’ve been keeping it a secret all this time for a lot of different reasons. First, I was in a bit of a state of shock. Secondly, I was more in the mode of waiting for someone to call and for it to be like a dream (…) I wanted to take the time to tell my friends, my family, my loved ones… and also to realize the journey I’ve been on. It was after the pathology of my operation that I was told I no longer had cancer. It’s funny because I’ve just done an interview (…) and it’s the first time I’ve said it out loud , to the public, to people, knowing full well that I was going to do my Dear Diary 57 seconds later, because I really want you to be the first to know, because it’s really you who have been there for me. It made me dizzy when I said it; it makes me dizzy right now to tell you that I’m cancer-free,” she explained, opening up about the incredible news and the effect it had on her.

She went on to explain that she was still going to undergo radiotherapy, even though the oncologist told her it wasn’t compulsory as there was no cancer at all. Geneviève wants to go ahead with it as a preventive measure, to make sure she has every chance on her side.

On another note, the cooking enthusiast announced the arrival of a forthcoming recipe book on tablets, very soon.

She also added that this weekend, in honour of the Montreal Marathon, over 150 people will be running after raising funds to contributeto the fight against breast cancer, an initiative launched by Frédérique Dufort. Thanks to this initiative, $20,000 has been raised. Wow!
