This historic hotel in renowned Prince Edward County recently underwent an extensive renovation and is welcoming guests into its reimagined spaces. Make sure to check out the new coffee counter, where you can order a drink and take in the hip and modern touches throughout the building.
The Shortiss Café Bar in Beaverton
This locally-owned café in Durham region serves both sweet and savoury goods alongside classic café drinks. From roast beef sandwiches to homemade cinnamon pastries, The Shortiss is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
With a slogan like, “Your small-town café,” you know you’re getting local charm at this coffee shop in beautiful Goderich. A favourite of locals and tourists alike, the homemade goods at Cait’s are widely popular—they even have their own catering service.
The Bean Counter Café in Picton
Those familiar with PEC will know The Bean Counter, a fixture on the main drag in Picton for decades. After browsing nearby shops, stop in for the warm atmosphere and great selection (they also have gelato!).

Donuts, anyone? Mariposa Market’s Claim to fame is their “Texas-style” (think: large) donuts, a fan favourite and winner of Food Network’s Donut Showdown—so you know you have to try them! Make sure you arrive early, as the donuts are made fresh starting at 4 a.m. each day and the market opens at 7 a.m.
The Nutty Bean Café in Lakefield
This family-run café is located in the Peterborough/Kawarthas region; they even have a special ‘Kawartha Thunder’ coffee blend. This café is an excellent pit stop on your way to or from the cottage.
