Mitch Marner victim of an armed robbery

Maple Leafs star forward Mitch Marner was the victim of an armed robbery last night (Monday) in Toronto.

The hockey player who had 97 points in 72 regular season games was with a friend in a movie theatre parking lot.

The 25-year-old right winger was on his way to see a movie with his friend when three armed suspects robbed his black Range Rover at the Cineplex theatre on Toronto’s Queensway, police said.

“The guys approached wearing masks and said they wanted the vehicle,” a police source said.

“Mitch said go ahead and take it,” the source added.

Two of the suspects were armed with handguns and the other had a knife, police said.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

No arrests have been reported at this time.

Mitch Marner ‘s season ended last Saturday when the Maple Leafs lost in seven games to the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Toronto has not been able to win a playoff series since 2004.
