Al Martino Dies at Age 82
Martino, who was born Alfred Cini, died of natural causes at his Springfield, Pennsylvania home.
The actor played Johnny Fontane opposite Marlon Brando in The Godfather, directed by Francis Ford Coppola in 1972. He returned to the role in 1974 for The Godfather Part II.
In addition to his success on the silver screen, Martino was a talented crooner. From the 1950s to the 70s, he recorded the hits I Love You Because, Spanish Eyes, Volare and Can’t Help Falling In Love, among others.
In the 1980s, Martino left his record label to work in the nightclubs. His most recent album, Style, was released nine years ago.
