Artists Unite to Help Katrina Victims
The first concert will be presented Friday and televised by NBC. Harry Connick, Jr., country singer Tim McGraw, and Wynton Marsalis, are all from Louisiana, the American state hit hardest by the storm. Leonardo DiCaprio will also attend the event.
MTV is also planning a benefit concert. Already Green Day, John Mellencamp, the Dave Matthews Band and Alicia Keys have confirmed their participation. The concert will be held on September 10.
Hurricane Katrina claimed the lives of many victims, and the death toll is still unknown. Experts predict that it will cost more than $25 million dollars to restore the areas that were damaged in the storm.
