According to a report by Adam Portzline inThe Athletic, Waddell takes time out between periods to meet the team’s fans when the Blue Jackets are playing at home.

He leaves his office to chat with fans, and that’s special because you never see that in the sports world.

It’s special, but it’s also a great way to interact with the team’s fans.

It creates a certain connection between fans and management, and it also allows fans to be « closer » to their team in Columbus.

In fact, maybe Blue Jackets fans need this after what happened this summer. The community in Columbus is tight-knit, and we know how much the tragic death of Johnny Gaudreau hurt.

While we’re on the subject of the Blue Jackets, it’s worth noting that the team is off to a relatively acceptable start to the season under the circumstances.

The team has won three of its first six games, and there are five standout players on the roster: Kirill Marchenko, Sean Monahan, Yegor Chinakhov, Kent Johnson and Zach Werenski.

If the trend continues, all these players will finish the season with a point per game (or more) :

The Jackets have their work cut out for them if they want to make the playoffs, but they’re off to a good start.

Everyone expected Columbus to have a very tough season, and if the Jackets continue to play the way they have since the start of the season, they’ll give themselves a chance.

Good, because the fans there deserve to find their way back to happiness.

Overtime

– Love it.
