Donald Trump makes his debut on Truth Social

Donald Trump is back on social media for the first time in over a year. The former U.S. president made his first post on his own network called Truth Social.

It was with a short message that the 45th president returned to the public square: « I’m back! ».

Donald Trump put himself on stage for this first publication in front of his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

Truth Social was launched last February. Greatly inspired by Twitter, the network is the counter-attack of Donald Trump to Twitter which had expelled him from its community following the riots on Capitol Hill in Washington.

Even though Twitter has just changed hands and the new owner Elon Musk wants to support free speech on the platform, Donald Trump does not intend to return if he was invited.

« I’m not going to go on Twitter, I’m going to stay on Truth, » Donald Trump told Fox News. « I hope Elon buys out Twitter because he’ll make improvements and he’s a good man, but I’m going to stay on Truth, » he added.

Donald Trump added: « It’s a platform for my voice. Truth is a platform for my voice and for my supporters. »

Truth Socialdescribes itself as « a social platform that encourages a global, open, free and honest conversation, without discrimination against political ideologies. »
