2012 – the year of Simple Minds

Scottish rock band release compilation box set and plan European tour.

Scottish rockers Simple Minds will be busy in 2012 with the launch of a compilation box set of their first five albums, Simple Minds X5, and a sixteen-date European tour kicking off on Valentine’s Day, reports Music News.

The compilation will be released on February 13, and includes Life in a Day, Real to Real Cacophony, Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination /Sister Feelings Calling, and New Gold Dream.

The set will include six discs, and bonus material of rare and previously unavailable CDs, B-sides, and remixes of the group’s earliest music.

One day after the launch, Simple Minds will begin their 5 x 5 European tour, playing five songs from each of their first five albums.

Lead singer Jim Kerr, noted on the band’s website, “there will be a real pleasure for us to highlight many songs that have been perhaps unfairly overlooked as we evolve continuously, hurtling forward year after year, adding yet more songs to our abundant repertoire.”
