23rd James Bond flick coming in 2012

Daniel Craig set to star as 007 for November 2012 release.

Although MGM declared bankruptcy this week, amidst financial restructuring, it has not abandoned plans for the 23rd James Bond movie, the latest instalment in the longest-running franchise in motion picture history, reports Bloomberg.

English actor, Daniel Craig, 42, will reprise his role as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 in the film, which will be a MGM release of an EON production. ‘Bond 23’ will be produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. Originally, Sam Mendes was attached to direct, but there has been no confirmation of his participation as yet.

Craig has been busy with a number of films including Dream House and Cowboys & Aliens which are in post-production. He is currently playing the pivotal role of Mikael Blomkvist in the American adaptation of the hit Swedish film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, based on the book by Stiegg Larsson.

The next, currently untitled Bond 23, is planned for release in November 2012, and the studio hopes to continue sequels every other year.
