2mandydjs perform at Oxjam

2mandydjs performed a special set for Oxjam in London last night.

The Dewale brothers gave one of their famous DJ mixes of mash-ups with the added twist of using records they had found in charity Oxfam’s flagship London store.

The pair mixed jams as diverse as ‘Inspector Norse’ by Todd Terje and Paul Simon’s classic cut, ‘You can Call Me Al’ in a two hour set, which also included tracks by The Rolling Stones and David Bowie.

Ahead of the show, the duo said: ”We’ve found a fair few records in Oxfam shops around the UK, so have been in some way or another supporting the charity for years.

”We want to encourage people across the country to get involved in the festival and buy records at their local Oxfam.”

Also on the bill were NYPC – formed of two members from the now defunct New Young Pony Club, who showcased new material as well as their previous act’s song ‘Ice Cream’. Additional support came from Chad Valley and The Invisible’s Dave Okumu.

The Oxjam launch shows continue tonight (27.09.13) and are a precursor to the Oxjam festival, which will take place throughout October with hundreds of music events across the country put on by volunteers with a passion for music, all raising money for the charity.

More than 800 venues will hold events to help Oxfam raise at least £400,000 for their aid work around the world.
