50 Cent cancels album’s release

Rapper’s displeasure with Interscope means Black Magic won’t see light of day.

Black Magic, 50 Cent’s fifth studio LP, was originally scheduled for release in late 2011, but an angry tweet issued last night by the rapper confirmed the record will not make it to stores.

50 Cent wrote: "Man I’m not releasing an album I can’t believe interscope is this f—– up right now. I apologise to all my fans (sic)."

He continued: "I will work with other artist on there projects but I will not put out another album. They dropped the ball with me one time to many (sic)."

Black Magic marked an anticipated collaboration with iconic hip hop artist and CEO at Aftermath Records, Dr. Dre. 50 Cent said he planned to leak their track, The Psycho, on the internet today.

50 Cent’s grievances with Interscope have been ongoing for some time. According to the rapper, releasing a new single is a multi-step process involving higher-ups at Shady Records, Aftermath Records and Interscope. This time, however, the process was slowed due to a spat between Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine and mentor Dr. Dre over the release of his own line of branded headphones.

50 Cent said he and Dre had resolved their differences in time to record The Psycho but that other parties at Interscope were intent on holding up his release.
